Welcome, friend. Our services are for pro se litigants by pro se litigants. Together, we can get you the access to justice your case deserves.
Courtroom5 is owned and operated by non-lawyers. That’s a feature, not a bug, because a lawyer can’t teach you how to win in court.
The people at Courtroom5 care about your case because we’ve been there. We’re not lawyers. Each of us has represented herself in numerous civil cases, and we know the lay of the land for pro se litigants.
Debra is a PhD librarian and former library school professor. She’s a recognized expert in user-computer interactions and qualitative analysis. Sonja is a PhD electrical engineer and entrepreneur who has appeared in Ms. Magazine, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, PBS NewsHour and ABC affiliate WSB-TV.
Why are we always in court? Easy — because neither of us will back down from a fight, and there are constant opportunities for fighting in day-to-day living.
Debra returned a rental car and was asked to pay for an earlier client’s dent, but she refused and they sued. (They dropped the case.) An answering service tried to overcharge Sonja for services, and they sued when she refused to pay. (They lost at trial.)
We’re either getting sued for not being patsies or having to sue when someone takes advantage.
Through literally dozens of cases, we made a simple discovery about lawsuits. Sure, we studied the basics of civil procedure and evidence and trial advocacy. But the most valuable thing we learned was the power of applying that knowledge as non-lawyers. Representing our own interests, we could focus exclusively on winning our cases, without worrying about a reputation or a law license.
Best of all, we discovered that with a little training and the right tools, we could make things happen in our cases that few lawyers could. As a result, we now kick butt in court.
In Debra’s last case, her judge tried to pull a fast one and granted summary judgment to the company suing her. The reversal on appeal was so swift and brutal that the judge recused himself and transferred the case to another judge.
Sonja tied the company suing her in such knots that they went through three law firms in three years just to get an answer to their complaint. They ultimately met Sonja’s settlement demands and dismissed the case.
Over the years, we’ve learned the importance of building a litigation strategy, staying organized, doing legal research and learning whatever is necessary to win. We built Courtroom5 to do exactly that for the millions of people who must go to court without a lawyer.
We want to support your litigation needs as long as your case is in court. Whether you are suing or being sued, we hope Courtroom5 aids your legal journey.
You don’t have to go it alone.
